Application Instructions

 

Bush Foundation Program Grant 2005-08

 

 

The goal of this program is to foster the building of research and scholarship communities among faculty and students during the summer.

 

This program supports such activities as lunches, speakers, advertising, or field trips.  Examples of successful proposals are posted on the website given below.

 

A maximum of $1,000 per department is available.  In addition to that amount, the person directing the summer program in that department can ask for an appropriate stipend to lead the program (e.g. $100).

 

The application is intended to be brief and minimize bureaucracy.  The application consists of a few pages describing the nature of the program:

 

1) planned activities, an approximate schedule, and frequency of activities,

2) projected number of students involved,

3) name of faculty member who will direct the program (including department/program, mail #, phone, e-mail address)

4) estimated amount of funding requested (tied to activities, e.g. meals, speaker fees, transportation, supplies), and

5) writing a short, 1-2 page report at the end of the summer, addressing: (1) a description of what activities occurred and their frequency, (2) an accounting of funds spent, and (3) evaluation or assessment results.  Send to: Program Coordinator Vanca Shrunk (Mail # JRC 432, idschrunk@stthomas.edu, 2-5740).
