Resident students have started to move in to university residence halls. On Saturday, Sept. 3, almost 1,200 first-year students will move onto the St. Paul campus. In order to properly welcome and provide space for them to move in, several parking changes will be made over the next few days.
Move-in parking
- On Friday, Sept. 2, and Saturday, Sept. 3, there will be no parking in Lots A, B, C and G, and Ramps R-2 and R-3 from 10 p.m. until they are reopened after move-in of the first-year students. In most cases this may be as late as 8 p.m. Those who usually park in these areas are encouraged to park on the south campus.
- There will be no parking on northbound and southbound Cretin Avenue from Mississippi River Boulevard to Selby Avenue from 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3.
- There will be no parking on eastbound Selby Avenue from Cretin Avenue to Cleveland Avenue from 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, to 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4.
Football parking
- There will be no parking in Lot M from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, in order to accommodate football tailgating. More information about tailgating is available at Tailgating Guidelines.
- Parking Lot I will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, for the football game officials.
- There will be no parking for the football game on north campus or access to the field from the northeast corner of the field.
All students, faculty and staff who will be on campus Saturday are encouraged to carpool and park on south campus in the Anderson Parking Facility. Out of respect for our neighbors, please do not park in the neighborhood.
All guests for football are asked to park in the Anderson Parking Facility and to access the game from the John P. Monahan Plaza or Cretin Avenue.
Ramps and current resident parking permits
- Starting at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, those who do not have a current resident parking permit for ramps R3 and R2 North are asked to park on south campus in lots V, X and Y. There will be no parking in the R2 or R3 ramps without a resident permit.
Overnight parking restrictions
- Overnight parking restrictions (no parking from 2 to 5 a.m.) are in effect now. These restrictions apply to all nonresident surface lots and to the Anderson Parking Facility on the south campus.
For further parking details and policies, consult the 2011-12 campus parking guides available on the Parking Services website.
