The St. Thomas baseball team is the defending national champion and rated No. 1 among NCAA Division III teams. Can the Tommies win another title under new Coach Chris Olean? Writer Doug Hennes and photographer Mike Ekern of St. Thomas magazine will try to answer that question and many others with a season-long “Boys of Spring” series that will include intensive coverage of the team’s spring break trip to Florida. The series begins today with an essay on “Why Baseball Matters.”
