The University of St. Thomas football team recorded its first 11-win season in school history with a 34-7 thumping of Coe College (Iowa) Saturday at O’Shaughnessy Stadium in the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Paced by Ben Wartman’s 236 yards on 34 carries, an average of seven yards per carry, and backed by a stingy defense that recorded eight sacks and three interceptions, the Tommies earned a shot at the NCAA quarterfinals.

The Tommies will play Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore., at noon Saturday, Dec. 5. Linfield sports an 11-0 record. The Tommies are 11-1, losing only to St. John’s in overtime, 20-17,  on Oct. 17.
