Cretin Avenue open again; careful at the crosswalks

By: University of St. Thomas News Service

Cretin Avenue south of Grand Avenue near St. Thomas’ St. Paul campus has reopened to traffic after several weeks of closures for the city’s street-and-curb reconstruction project. The avenue’s heavy traffic flow is expected to resume soon, so St. Thomas’ Public Safety Department reminds you to pay special attention when crossing Cretin at Summit and Grand Avenues. Walk only in crosswalks, and heed the traffic signals.

The city of St. Paul has begun its fall street-cleaning projects. Streets will be posted with “no parking” signs 24 hours before cleaning occurs. St. Thomas students and employees are encouraged to move their cars to avoid city parking tickets and ensure the leaves are removed before the snow flies.

Speaking of snow: You’re reminded that no parking is permitted in any St. Thomas lot or the Anderson Parking Facilty between 2 and 5 a.m. daily except on Friday and Saturday nights in Lot A (north campus) or Lot V, X and Y (south campus). These restrictions are in place to enable effective snow removal.

If you’re new to St. Thomas, take a few minutes now to review St. Paul and Minneapolis snow-emergency procedures. Plan ahead for the snow season!
