Professional Interests:

My broad research interest centers on the intersection between immunology, infectious disease, and community health.  Currently, we are collaborating with the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) on projects related to influenza, influenza vaccine and science policy.
In addition, we have an ongoing (three year) project performing surveillance of Borrelia burgdorfei, the Lyme disease agent, in small mammals at Macalester College’s Katherine Ordway Natural History Study. This project involves a field component (animal trapping) followed by PCR analysis of tissue samples for presence of the specific disease-causing agent.
