Biology Department Awards

Leading E.D.G.E.

An award established to recognize and honor the most outstanding students in BIOL 201 and 202 (E.D.G.E. is taken from the first letters of: Ecology, Adaptation and Diversity; and Genetics andEvolution).  Each student receives a certificate of achievement, a recently published book of interest to a biologist, and a student membership to the American Institute of Biological Sciences (including a subscription to the journal BioScience).

Keystone

Recently established, this award was named after the keystone that holds up an arch and keystone species, whose presence is vital to the health of an ecosystem.  It goes to senior Biology majors whose initiative and dedication has produced changes that have benefited the department, the university, or the wider community.  Students are honored with a certificate of achievenment.
