Professional Interests

  • The role of monomeric GTPases in the regulation of cell attachment, migration, and proliferation.
  • Genomic structure of mammalian gene promoters.
  • Applying the tools of cell biology to questions in population biology.

Current Projects:

  • Effect of Rap1 proteins on cell proliferation and programmed cell death.
  • Identification of promoter control regions of the human rap1A and rap1B genes.
  • Using mitochondrial function to test fitness predictions of mating system alternatives in an invasive freshwater snail.
