Career Fields in Biochemistry

• Industry: Develop new products and/or processes, perform analysis for quality control, or as laboratory research technician in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food, forensics, biomedical device, agricultural and other related industries.
• Medicine: Perform diagnostic testing in a clinical setting and with further education go on to a career as a physician, dentist, pharmacist, veterinarian or other health professional.
• Education: Combined training in biology and chemistry is excellent preparation for a career in science education at all levels. With further education in graduate school, a biochemist may pursue a career in academia.
• Further Options:  Technical writing, law, pharmaceutical sales and many other careers that make use of skills developed from this rigorous interdisciplinary major.
