Aquinas Fellow

Year: Junior
Major: Psychology and Catholic Studies
Hometown: Freedom, WI
High School: Xavier High School

Organizations or activities: While still at St. Thomas…St. Paul’s Outreach, Theotokos, and Myriam Companions. Now I am studying abroad in Rome for the school year.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I love to read, paint, draw, be outside, run, and dance (esp. swing dance).

Anticipated career after college: I am discerning the religious life. Otherwise I know I want to work for the Church in some aspect, whether it is teaching, youth ministry, or possibly counseling.

Why did you come to UST?
The Catholic Studies program, especially the Rome program, drew me to St. Thomas. After meeting with someone from the Catholic Studies program, I knew it would be a place where I could really grow in my faith and love of the Lord and His Church. I also thought the campus was beautiful and loved being in between two big cities.

What does it mean to you to be selected as an Aquinas Fellow?
It is a great honor to be part of a group that I looked up to when I was a freshman starting out at St. Thomas. I loved the fact that these people were being honored for seeking God’s will. Now it reminds me how important it is to seek the Lord’s will in my own life and how we must be a witness to others.

What has been your most valuable experience at UST?
Being the RA of the Catholic Women’s floor last year and being a student missionary for St. Paul’s Outreach taught me a lot about integrating faith and leadership. St. Paul’s Outreach has taught me how to constantly grow deeper in conversion and truly love and live out the Christian call to holiness. The Catholic Women’s Floor was such a blessed time for me to be able to learn how to lead a large group of women along this same path towards holiness.

How will being an Aquinas Fellow help you discern and work towards your vocation?
It is a reminder of what I truly should be focused on in life by asking the Lord for direction and sharing this as a witness to others.

What advice would you give a student about discerning their vocation?
This advice I received from the Mother of the Passionist nuns… Persevere…especially in prayer. But in everything you do, persevere!
