Insight is the non-web-based version of the database system that holds the digital image collection.

What types of images are in Luna?

A wide variety! The database holdings reflect both the teaching needs of the department and faculty research interests. Images of artworks representing many cultures, time periods, mediums, and styles are available. How can I access the art history image collection
Students may access images through a link in the course Blackboard site. A professor may create a group of class-specific images for study and grant students access through a link. Faculty members can access the collection through Luna Insight. Students, staff, and faculty are also welcome to come to the visual resources library and search the art history image collections.

Are there other image collections I can use?

Yes! The art history department subscribes to the AMICA Library – a collection of more than 100,000 high quality images from museums around the world. Additional image collections are also available including the Asmat Museum of American Art, the UST Art Collection, the David Rumsey Map Collection, the National Palace collection, and many others. Lunacommons.org also offers many, many additional images.
