The Visual Resources Library collection consists of over 65,000 art and architecture slides of varied mediums and geographic areas from prehistoric time to the 21st century. Slides are catalogued according to the Minnesota Art Classification Scheme created by Dmitri Tselos. The collection also houses more than 200 art related videos. The films are used primarily to support teaching of art history courses and generally do not circulate beyond the department.
The aim of the Visual Resources Library is to support the teaching of art history courses for the University of St. Thomas. ? The collection is developed in response to departmental curricular needs and is utilized by Art History staff and students; however, other faculty and students are welcome to make use of the collection. Plans are underway to digitize the collection and make the catalog available for searching via the Web.
The Visual Resources Library is located at 2057 Portland Avenue in the Department of Art History house.
Hours of Operation: Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays 8:00 a.m. to noon.
