
Skimming the Surface: Pattern and Narrative
Embellished cloth serves many purposes, mainly utilitarian, but this does not preclude seven artists using the element of pattern and texture to create stories that range from pure studies of the elements of design to complete narratives, both of which move the viewer to a different level of interaction with these textiles.
This exhibition will be on display June 9 - August 22nd in the O'Shaughnessy Educational Center lobby gallery. A reception with the artists will be held on Sunday, June 12th from 4-6 p.m.
This exhibition is offered in collaboration with the Surface Design Conference, Confluence, which is held in the Twin Cities June 9-11. The Surface Design Gallery Tour is from noon - 4:30 p.m., Thursday, June 9th.from noon - 4:30 p.m. Visit the SDA Conference website for a list of participating galleries and for information of the bus routes. St. Thomas will be one of the stops on the tour.
