Arson in Dowling

Two trash-can fires early Sunday morning in the basement of Dowling Residence Hall have been declared arson by the St. Paul Fire Department. The two fires caused an estimated $20,000 to $40,000 in damage.

ìBecause this makes it a crime scene, the Fire Department has turned it over to St. Paul police,î said Michael Barrett, Public Safety and Parking Services manager of investigations. Barrett was meeting with the the St. Paul arson investigator this week to tell him what he knew about the incident.

Students with meal plan pay extra

Most students with meal plans never realize how much they pay for a meal. They see a lump sum on their tuition bill but may never have wondered what the figure broke down to per meal. Depending on their meal plans, students may be paying up to $3.75 more per meal than diners who pay cash at the door.

I can't see how anyone in good conscience would deceive students into paying excessive prices for meal plans, senior Joel Sember said. It is obvious to me that the university does not have the best interest of its students in mind...more
