First Friday Table Captain

First Friday Speaker Series Table Captain

The First Friday Speaker Series is a luncheon and speaker series held on the first Friday of each month, October through May.  Community leaders are brought together with St. Thomas alumni, faculty, staff and friends.  Although sponsored by the St. Thomas Alumni Association, many of attendees are not graduates or employees of St. Thomas.  The group is non-denominational and non-political.

Part of the success of the First Friday Speaker Series is the commitment of volunteers who invite guests to the luncheon.  These volunteers are called Table Captains.  The volunteers agree to serve for one academic year.

Responsibilities of a Table Captain

  • Table captains commit to bringing 2 or more guests to the luncheon.  Table captains are not required to attend every month.
  • Reservations for table captain guests will be honored if the table captain is unable to attend.
  •  Table captains are responsible for extending reservations but not for buying tickets for each guest.
  • Table captains submit reservations by the due date to the Alumni Association and collect payment from their guests the day of the luncheon.

Benefits of being a Table Captain

  • Table captains have the ability to make advance reservations, are guaranteed reserved seating, receive monthly email updates on the program, and are invited to special Alumni Association events.
  • Serving as a table captain is an excellent networking tool and way to entertain clients.
