 The Society of the Arches formally acknowledges and recognizes the contribution of alumni volunteers to the university community. Alumni volunteer activity is credited toward achievement levels by semesters of participation. Membership is open to all alumni. 

 

Achievement Levels

Socius Incipiens: Discovery
This is the beginning of the journey as an alumni volunteer for UST. During this time, alumni discover how their time and talents benefit the St. Thomas community. They return to campus and begin to connect with many of the things they remember from their prior years on campus - energetic students, caring faculty and staff and a beautiful campus. This level is achieved after three semesters of volunteer activity.

Socius Approbatus: Commitment
During this time, alumni who have continued their involvement as volunteers deepen their commitment to St. Thomas. Alumni discover how to apply their time and talents to further serve the UST community and fulfill their desire to remain involved with their alma mater. This level is achieved after six semesters of volunteer activity.

Socius Fidelis: Dedication
At this level, alumni display true devotion to the university. Through their consistent dedication to serving the community, they have proven to be faithful volunteers. Their commitment to sharing their time and talent with all members of the community has been a testimonial to their pride in St. Thomas. This level is achieved after 12 semesters of volunteer activity.

Socius Fidelissimus: Loyalty
Alumni in this level have ultimate loyalty to their alma mater. Their leadership has been honorable. Their support to UST as loyal volunteers cannot be matched. They are the university?s most esteemed alumni volunteers. This level is achieved after 20 semesters of volunteer activity.

Keystone Award

Alumni may be nominated for the Keystone Award, which acknowledges key volunteers who create, implement or maintain an Alumni Association program or event for the St. Thomas community.

 

Philosophy Statement
In the Catholic tradition of serving others to advance the common good, alumni volunteers engage in challenging experiences that change their lives and the lives of others.  As ambassadors for the University of St. Thomas, alumni volunteers carry the mission of the university forward through their concern, commitment and passion for their community.
