Social work

(Family outreach worker/coordinator at Edison High School in Minneapolis)

"My major courses in social work allowed me to mock typical tasks in my current job. The interviews, group work, needs assessments, graphs, charts, case notes, and fieldwork group conversations are all tasks I do weekly. By the time I started working, I felt like a natural. In the classes we often used our own life, family and community stories as part of our work. Allowing myself to experience that vulnerability allows me to better relate to my clients."
