Undergraduate Admissions

Application Tips for All Students

Address your weaknesses. If you feel you have a weakness in your application (i.e., low grades in a specific subject, poor semester grades in high school or college, etc.) address these issues in your essay and with letters of recommendation. Compelling letters of recommendation for the admissions committee are from teachers or instructors who teach courses in which you do not naturally excel.

Apply early in the process. St. Thomas admits students on rolling admissions. We accept applications as they come in until the class is full. We have no set deadline for applications. However, the sooner you apply, the better. Your chances of being accepted are better earlier, and applying is the first step in the scholarship process and also for reserving a spot in on-campus housing.

Meet your admissions counselor. Whether you are a freshman, transfer, or Undergraduate Evening Program student, it is a good idea to meet with your counselor. Your counselor is your point of contact when you apply and your "representative" when your application is reviewed by the admissions committee. They will also answer any questions you may have about the application, academic requirements, required courses, transfer credits and the enrollment process.
