Faculty: Learned and Award-Winning

Professors--not teaching assistants--teach all classes at St.Thomas. There are 380 full-time faculty and 404 part-time faculty at St. Thomas. St. Thomas professors have earned many awards and recognition for their scholarship and teaching. Eighty-two percent of St. Thomas faculty have earned the highest degree available in their fields. In addition, the university employs 1,109 support staff in such areas as admissions,student services, marketing and communications and campus ministry. The student/faculty ratio is 17:1

Class Size:Small and Selective

Although St. Thomas is Minnesota's largest independent university, the average undergraduate class size is 21 students and the average graduate class size is 18 students. Small class size allows St. Thomas students to participate effectively in class discussions, and ask questions and receive personal attention from faculty.

Computer Access: E-Mail and Internet

Computer access is available throughout campus. Students have access to computers in several labs, in the residence halls and in some academic departments. The costs of a St. Thomas education include a yearly technology fee that allows the university to provide each student an e-mail account and web access.
