Why did you choose St. Thomas?

I did research on many schools, but at the end St. Thomas turned out to be the best fit for my needs. Within the Twin Cities, St. Thomas has quite a reputation and a strong alumni network, which assists you in finding jobs and internships. Additionally, there is the ACTC system, which allows you to take classes at other schools such as Augsburg, Hamline, Macalester, and St. Catherine at no additional cost. That broadens your choice of classes, and opens up an opportunity for you to get to know students from different schools.

What do you like best about St. Thomas?

St. Thomas is big enough to offer many activities on campus and great facilities. However, the class size is small enough so your professors could know you by name. I like the small class size, in which I am able to ask questions without feeling reluctant.

What do you like about being a student in the Twin Cities area?

The Twin Cities area has a lot to offer. Restaurants and stores are within a bus ride distance. There are also numerous companies in the Twin Cities, which opens up job and internship opportunities. Personally, aside from the fact that there are many things to do here, I also love that my host family is living close so I can see them often during weekends or break.

What campus activities are you involved in?

I am a member of the Actuarial Science & Math Club, Table Top Gaming Club. I also am an International Student Ambassador.

What advice would you give to prospective international students?

It might be hard when you first start school, be it the language you have not gotten used to, or friends you have not been able to get close to. However, the more you get yourself out there making friends and getting the most out of your experience, the better it would be. As time flies by, things will get easier.  Even the cold in Minnesota will seem sweet and nostalgic with time.
