The Center provides academic support through tutoring and referral services, individual assistance in study skills improvement, test taking preparation, college reading techniques, ESL support and note taking, college survival skills, and campus seminars and workshops.

The Academic Counseling Staff is able to serve all students in a variety of areas.  The counselors can help you with: major and minor choices, class registration, test anxiety, student/professor conflicts, general, major and minor field requirements, negotiating academic probation contracts, writing a degree plan, notifying instructors of emergencies or extended illness, and locating campus resources to help you with your academics.

Mathematics Resource Center (MaRC)

MaRC provides placement testing, mathematics tutoring for 114 or below, independent study/review programs, math videos, and general mathematics advising. The center also offers the Basic Math Skills Review Course (MATH 005) periodically throughout the year. For higher level courses, MaRC maintains a list of private tutors whose rates are subject to individual negotiations. A detailed MaRC tutoring schedule is provided within the following Departmental Tutoring list under the heading Mathematics.

Undergraduate and graduate students at all levels of experience and expertise across the university use the Center for Writing. Students typically work with peer consultants on developing ideas, creating a focus, organizing materials, and clarifying sentences. In intensive one-on-one sessions, consultants also help students understand assignments, analyze readings, and read over partial or complete drafts. They do not proofread papers. Services are free. Students can drop in or make an appointment during busier times of the semester.

The Enhancement Program-Disability Services serves qualified students with documented disabilities.  Academic accommodations are provided to students based on their specific disability and the requirements of their courses. Accommodations are provided in accordance with section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The Career Development Center will assist you with exploring career interests and choosing a major.  The staff will also work with you on job search skills including resume writing and interviewing skills.  Recent job/internship opportunities are posted here on a regular basis.

Multicultural Student Services is concerned with providing a comprehensive system of advocacy and support for United States' students of color in order to improve their prospects for retention and the quality of the University of St. Thomas experience.  MSS serves students by networking with academic and administrative offices to serve students, providing educational support on diversity issues, serving as an advocate/mediator in conflict situations, providing support to multicultural student organizations, and implementing institutional initiatives designed to create an inclusive educational environment.
