Program Description
The University of St. Thomas (UST) is the largest private university in Minnesota. We have a commitment to being a strong urban university, a leader in preparing the next generation of students, and connecting with local communities. The UST SES program, held on the UST campus, utilizes our state-of-the-art classrooms and resources. Our staff includes licensed instructors, behavioral specialists, translators, undergraduate and graduate student tutors. The SES program combines one-on-one tutoring sessions along with on-line sessions. In addition to tutoring services, participants will receive healthy lifestyle guidance and a nutritional dinner. At St. Thomas, we are dedicated to helping our youth achieve academic achievement.

Demonstrated Effectiveness
The University of St. Thomas (UST) SES program will encompass a variety of teaching and assessment methods when working with students. Our program will use similar methods to those used in the UST Tutor Mentor Program, where over 6,730 undergraduate students have volunteered hours tutoring in over 25 area schools: twelve of which are targeted as schools required to provide SES to their students. Our program will also provide computer-based technology to assess and track students' advancement and growth in reading, language arts, and math. This computer program is based on Minnesota math and reading standards
