Located on the Minneapolis campus of the University of St. Thomas, the Graduate School of Professional Psychology offers the Master of Arts (M.A.) and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degrees in counseling psychology. The school is committed to an educational process that addresses the diverse needs of students through a variety of learning strategies designed to create a supportive and challenging environment within the university.
The professional psychology programs focus on training students in counseling psychology by teaching clinical skills within the framework of ethical practice. The M.A. developed in the mid 1970s and the Psy.D., initiated in 1990, provide practitioner-scholar oriented education for professionals serving the public and private mental health fields. The Psy.D. program was accredited by the American Psychological Association in 2001.
