| What can I do with a major in....? Finance The programs in Business Administration offer the opportunity to acquire an excellent understanding of the processes, organizations, and decision-making inherent in today's business environment. Students begin by building a foundation of basic knowledge and skills with courses in economics, statistics, mathematics and communication. They then take a series of core courses that span the functional areas of business. These areas include accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, legal studies in business, management, and marketing. These courses form a foundation upon which students can build a greater knowledge in several different concentrations. Students who concentrate in finance receive preparation for the financial service industries or for financial departments of non-financial corporations. Financial service industries would include banks, insurance companies, and investment firms. In addition to meeting needs for specific preparation, the study of finance is really applied microeconomics.
