Darcy Brommer

Responsibilities

In addition to my favorite activity -- advising students -- my responsibilities involve mentoring student interns, teaming with others in the areas of assessment and pre-health career advising, and serving on the Study Abroad Advisory Committee.

Education
BA Psychology, University of St. Thomas

Certificate in Pastoral Ministry, College of St. Catherine’s

MA Educational Leadership, University of St. Thomas

How did I get here?
Upon completing my undergraduate degree, I was employed in a variety of settings from state government to in-home child care. However, most of my energy was spent serving as an counselor/advocate for young single-mothers. In 1989, I had an opportunity to return to the St. Thomas community, and accepted a position as an undergraduate admissions counselor. Over the next eleven years, I was privileged to serve in a variety of professional capacities within the Enrollment Services department at UST. However my interest in counseling, as well as my desire to work more closely with the undergraduate population, prompted me to explore other opportunities. In the fall of 2000, I joined the Academic Counseling staff as a counselor.

Interests

Reading, gardening, hiking, biking, supporting human rights/economic justice issues, spending time with family and friends, and learning to play guitar so I can become a cool folk singer like Bob Dylan or Joni Mitchell in my next life.
