The Siena Symposium for Women, Family, and CultureThe Siena Symposium for Women, Family, and Culture is an interdisciplinary faculty group, founded at the University of St. Thomas in 2003, and interested in responding to the call issued to women by Pope John Paul II in Evangelium Vitae, his 1995 Encyclical "The Gospel of Life.” The Holy Father states quite clearly in that document (#99) that it is up to women to develop a new and explicitly Christian feminism, one that affirms the role of women in transforming our culture so that it supports life. This is our mission; our work is devoted to investigating the foundations and implications of an authentic understanding of the complementary natures of men and women as they work together to build a culture of life. |
