Programs of Study

Thank you for your interest in our graduate degree programs. Each offers advanced study of theology in the Roman Catholic tradition, with attention to the ecumenical interests and multi-cultural needs of the Church.

Master of Divinity (Seminary and Lay Programs)

The Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree prepares ordained and lay ministers for leadership and service in the Roman Catholic Church. The M.Div. offers a comprehensive formation program that integrates the academic study of theology, pastoral experience, and spiritual and human formation to prepare students for the challenges of ministry in today’s Church. Designed primarily to prepare students for ordination to the Roman Catholic priesthood, the program also serves those preparing for pastoral ministry or chaplaincies.

Master of Arts in Theology

The Master of Arts in Theology (MAT) is a 36-credit degree program. It offers advanced study of theology both for those seeking broad preparation across the theological disciplines and for those seeking in-depth study in areas such as Scripture, moral theology, systematic theology, and historical theology.

Master of Arts in Religious Education

The Master of Arts in Religious Education (MARE) provides an integrated approach to the intellectual and spiritual development of those serving the Church in administering or teaching religious education programs in schools and parishes.

Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry

The Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry (MAPM) is a 48-credit graduate degree program that provides the opportunity to systematically think through the relationship between theology and pastoral life. It is designed for those seeking an integrated program of formation for service in the Church in various ministries, including: parish catechetical leaders, youth ministers, pastoral associates and parish life coordinators.
