Johnson is an expert in business law, corporate law, mergers, acquisitions and hostile takeovers, and securities law. He teaches corporate law, business planning, corporate finance and securities and regulations. His work in corporate and fiduciary responsibility is widely regarded across disciplines. Johnson practiced in Minnesota as an associate and then partner at Stacker & Ravich (later Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, L.L.P). He served as a visiting professor at the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul before moving to the Washington and Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Va. During the 2006-2007 academic year Johnson was a visiting professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law.
