About the Alumni Association

The UST School of Law Alumni Association was founded in 2006.  All graduates of the School of Law belong to the Alumni Association.  No dues are charged for membership. 

The first Law Alumni Advisory Board was named in December, 2006 to serve a term of January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007. The Law Alumni Advisory Board directs and conducts the business and affairs of the Alumni Association, advances the UST Law mission, and furthers the goals and objectives of the Alumni Association.

The goals and objectives of the Alumni Association are as follows:

• Advising and informing the Dean, the administration and the faculty in matters important to the School of Law and its community;
• Fostering a spirit of public service within the communities in which its members live and work;
• Recognizing the personal and professional accomplishments of the members of the School of Law community;
• Promoting and participating in the activities and academic programs of the School of Law;
  Maintaining and supporting relationships among alumni;
• Contributing to the long-term financial success of the School of Law;
• Recruiting and supporting the candidacies of excellent prospective students, faculty and staff for the School of Law;
• Assisting the School of Law alumni and students with career opportunities and development; and
• Promoting the highest aspirations for the profession and the practice of law.

From time to time, the goals and objectives of the Alumni Association may be reviewed and amended by a majority vote of the members of the Advisory Board.

As the Bylaws outline, the Board includes four officers (Past-President, President, President-elect and Secretary/Treasurer), 15 directors and the Student Government President. Each officer will hold a one-year term, and each director will hold a two-year term.  The President and the Past-President will also hold a seat on the UST Law Board of Governors. 

   
2013 Open Board Positions - Applications Close November 30th

The applications for the 2012 Board are now closed.  Starting in July 2012, we will be accepting applications for the 2013 Alumni Board.  If you are interested in serving in a leadership position, please consider the following positions available commencing January 1, 2013:

Secretary/Treasurer:  an officer position, automatic succession to the position of President-elect, President and Past-president.

Director, 2 year term:  a voting member of the Board, 8 positions open.

For a more detailed and complete understanding of the responsibilities of serving on the Board and selection criteria, please see the Bylaws and Board Selection Criteria.  Please note that each term will begin in January and conclude in December.

To apply, please complete the Candidate Profile Form, which is due no later than November 30, 2012.   If you have questions, please contact the Director of Law Alumni Relations Nicole Fredricks Jackson.  Appointments will be announced at the Alumni Christmas Celebration. 
   

2012 Alumni Board - Appointments Committee

Through an appointments process, new members of the 2012 Alumni  Board will be appointed to the 7 open positions. Kathryn Hibbard ('06), the immediate Past-President to the Board and UST Law Board of Governors representative will Chair the 2012 Alumni Board Appointments Committee.  Other members of the committee include: Dean Thomas Mengler, Scott Swanson, Lisa Brabbit, Jessica Blanner ('09), and Jon Farnsworth ('08).

   

Alumni Association Committees

In addition to Board positions, the Alumni Association offers graduates other ways to be engaged.  You may want to consider becoming a member of one of the following Alumni Association Committees:

• Annual Fund Committee
• Social Committee
• Program Committee
• Reunion Committee.
