The University of St. Thomas

Project Portfolio

IRT Projects

Project planning is an integral part of technology implementation at the university. IRT continually manages 30 - 50 active projects in the portfolio at any given time. Projects range from business process redesign for a department to campus-wide technology initiatives.

IRT defines a project as a work effort:

  • involving more than one person
  • consisting of more than forty hours of work
  • including tasks not listed on your Job Profile as a routine job function
  • producing a definite deliverable
  • ending on a definite date

Each project in the portfolio follows IRT's adopted Project Management Methodology. While there are many formal project management models available, IRT has put together a methodology to suit the unique needs of the division as well as the University of St. Thomas. Projects are approved and prioritized based on the university's mission and strategic themes and priorities.
