Description of Problem:
Late yesterday afternoon, we began receiving reports of a new fraudulent email attack ('phishing attack') specifically targeting the UST community. Some members of the campus have received email purporting to be from 'IRT', and containing a "Warning Code". These emails, like other recent attacks, ask the member to update their email account information by entering their NetID and password, warning that email service will be suspended unless this information is provided.
Although this fraudulent email contains numerous misspellings and grammatical errors, in many ways this message looks legitimate. It is not.
Once again, IRT will never ask a member of the campus community to provide their NetID password, and especially not via email. If you receive an email requesting you provide this information, please ignore/destroy it - it is not a legitimate request. If you ever receive an email from IRT that you question, please feel free to call the IRT Tech Desk at 651-962-6230 to verify its authenticity.
If you already responded to this phishing scam, please change your password immediately.
